Auckland Tree Removal
Natives, exotics and overgrown shelter trees taken down in controlled sections — with consent checked before we quote, not after.
Tree Removal in Auckland
Tree removal in Auckland covers everything beyond our palm work — gums, pines, liquidambars, pittosporum shelter belts, self-seeded wattle and privet, and the mature natives that were planted long before the houses around them went up. Most Auckland sections don’t give a tree room to fall, so the majority of removals are done sectionally: the crew climbs or works from an elevated platform, takes the canopy down in pieces, and lowers each section on rope rather than dropping it. That’s slower than felling, but it’s what keeps a roof, a fence line, a glasshouse or a neighbour’s deck intact. Before any quote is confirmed we check the tree against the Auckland Unitary Plan — notable tree schedule, significant ecological areas, riparian and coastal margins, and any consent notice sitting on the title — because a protected tree removed without consent is the property owner’s liability, not just ours. Once the tree is down the stump can be ground out in the same visit, and the site is cleared of timber, chip and debris so you’re left with usable ground rather than a mess to deal with.

Our Tree Services Across Auckland
Trimming Tree Trimming
Crown thinning, lifting and reduction shaped to how the tree actually grows — not topping, which only makes the next problem worse.
Branch Cutting Branch Cutting
Overhanging limbs, roof and gutter clearance and boundary overhang dealt with on their own — no need to lose the whole tree.
Stump Grinding Stump Grinding
Stumps ground out below grade so the ground is genuinely reusable — lawn, paving, deck or new planting, not a stump with bark chip around it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need consent to remove a tree in Auckland?
Sometimes. General tree protection was removed years ago, but scheduled and notable trees, significant ecological areas, riparian and coastal margins and any consent notice on the title all still apply. A protected tree removed without consent is the owner's liability, so we check the Unitary Plan for your address before confirming a quote.
Can you take out a tree with no room to fall?
Yes, that is most Auckland sections. The tree is dismantled in sections from the top, with limbs and trunk pieces lowered on rope rather than dropped, so roofs, fences, glasshouses and neighbouring property stay intact.
Do you remove the stump too?
It can be ground out in the same visit, which costs less than booking it separately. We grind to around 200 to 300mm below grade for lawn and garden, deeper where paving, a deck or a replacement tree is going in.
What happens to the wood and green waste?
Everything goes unless you want it. Chip can be left as mulch and trunk rounds can be stacked for firewood if the species suits, otherwise it all leaves with us the same day.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured with public liability cover, and our crews are qualified arborists. We are happy to provide our certificate of currency before work begins.
